Core Acumen

  3. Core Acumen
A 12-week youth programme

Why

Technical ability alone does not prepare young people for every challenge of entering the workforce and navigating adult life. Learners also need professional readiness, confidence, sound judgment, life skills and the support to navigate personal and community circumstances.

What

Core Acumen is a key part of NairoBits Trust’s youth empowerment approach, comprising 20% of learning. It develops the personal, interpersonal and professional competencies that complement technical education and prepare young people for opportunities beyond the classroom.

How

NairoBits integrates Core Acumen throughout the Innovation and Technology program rather than limiting it to a single module. Through mentorship, company visits, peer forums, guest trainers, life skills education, sexual and reproductive health education and job readiness activities, learners develop a broader understanding of themselves, the workplace and the responsibilities that come with professional and personal growth.
